The Animation Track of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a special talk titled “A Journey into Tomorrow: The Making of the Short-Animated Film Tomorrow (2019)” on Thursday, August 12, 2026. The session offered students firsthand insights into the creative, technical, and collaborative processes behind animated filmmaking.
The programme featured Mr Murad Abrar, Founder and CEO of Cycore Studios Limited, and Mr. Mohammad Shihab Uddin, Director and Filmmaker at Cycore Studios, who shared their professional experiences and discussed the making of Tomorrow.
In his welcome address, Professor Dr Pradip Kumar Panday, Head of JMC, emphasised the growing importance of animation across filmmaking, journalism, advertising, entertainment, visual storytelling, and digital communication. He highlighted the value of connecting classroom learning with professional experience.
The speakers discussed how an initial idea develops into a visual narrative through storytelling, creativity, technology, teamwork, experimentation, revision, and perseverance. An interactive session also allowed students to ask questions and engage directly with the professionals about animation production and career opportunities.
At the closing session, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), AIUB, thanked the distinguished speakers for sharing their valuable professional experiences and emphasised the importance of bringing industry practitioners into the academic environment. He also appreciated JMC and its Animation Track for organising the programme and acknowledged the contributions of faculty members, students, and others involved in the event.
The programme was attended by Ms Rani Ellen V. Ramos, Coordinator of the Animation Track, and initiated by adjunct faculty member Mr Mohammad Mizanur "Minar" Rahman.
The event reflects JMC, AIUB’s continued commitment to connecting academic learning with professional practice and providing students with opportunities to learn directly from accomplished practitioners in the media and creative industries.
