On Friday, August 7, 2026, the IEEE AIUB Student Branch proudly supported “VLSITHON 3.0 Opening Ceremony” organized by Ulkasemi in association with Ulkasemi VLSI Training Institute and hosted by American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The ceremony aimed to provide participants with valuable knowledge into the VLSI and chip design industry while giving them a chance to hear directly from professionals.
The inaugural speech was delivered by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor, AIUB. Afterwards, the stage was taken by Dr. Arifa Chowdhury Rahman, Chairperson, Ulkasemi who shared her valuable experience into the semiconductor industry. Next, Dr. Shahriyar Masud Rizvi, Deputy Director, CVES, D2A2I and Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB took the stage and shared his experience working with design technologies and relating in engineering education. The following segment was hosted by the University Outreach Team of Ulkasemi who introduced their initiatives and highlighted the opportunities available for students interested in building a career in the semiconductor and VLSI industry. Consequently, the Distinguished Guest of the day, Ananya Zaman, Founder, PC Helpline BD was welcomed on stage where he shared his perspective as a respected entrepreneur and technology advocate and inspired the young professionals. The following session was conducted by the Special Guest of the day, Mr. Mohammed Enayetur Rahman, CEO, Ulkasemi. He discussed the fundamentals of building a career in the semiconductor industry and highlighted strategies on chip designing. The ceremony concluded with a closing remark from Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor, AIUB.
Following the ceremony, a drone shoot took place in the AIUB Playground. The event ended with a workshop hosted by the University Outreach Team of Ulkasemi to prepare the participants with training and strategies for their upcoming competition VLSITHON 3.0.
The event started at 10:00 AM (GMT +6) and concluded at 6:30 PM (GMT +6). A total of 200+ participants attended the seminar.
